This is in response to news that we’re never going to profit from TMX, despite the government regularly calling the project “wildly profitable.” Anyway, when the whole argument for the infrastructure to be built is PROFIT-BASED, (unlike Canada Post!) yes you do!!

Truly incredible that this is how the media is choosing to eulogize the longest-serving Republican Speaker of the House in US history, who was a serial sexual abuser of children. For all the talk about "deep state" plots to abuse children, no one even remembers this case.
From CBS News: "Former Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert, who represented Illinois for two decades in Congress and was later jailed for violating banking laws, has died."

A key component of the Cambridge Analytica outrage was your friends subjecting you to data theft without your consent or knowledge. Facebook is running the same playbook on your text messages. Even if you’re not on Meta properties, they’re ingesting your interactions.
Aten installed Muse on both his iPhone and a Mac mini that he uses to test out various Al agents and tech. It took Meta a single day to begin "helpfully" pitching article ideas based on texts he'd sent to a podcast co-host.
When he asked Muse how it got the information, it said that it read banners from incoming texts. But that's not true, either.
After doing a little digging, Aten says Muse synced 187,000 lines from his Messages database, despite Full Disk Access being Off.Unless Aten is the most popular person on the face of the planet, I sincerely doubt he'd gotten 187,000 lines of text in roughly 24 hours. What happened is that, without permission, Muse went into the app and downloaded the information.
He had not given Muse permission to access Messages, and full disk access was not enabled. It just went ahead and uploaded those texts anyway.
Muse can take "unexpected actions" indeed.

Keller then repeats the old "we should produce more oil and gas because we have so much of it." That might have been a competitive advantage in the 1970s. In the 2020s, as much of the world electrifies and decarbonizes, it becomes significantly less relevant.

Mark Carney announces a new "national council" on digital asbestos, but so long as the underlying motivation is to find ways to force adoption on Canadians (usually by gaslighting us into believing that it's "safe" and "responsible"), it should be treated with derision.
Prime Minister Carney launches new National Council on Artificial Intelligence

October 2, 2026
Ottawa, Ontario

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the way Canadians live, work, and connect. The speed, scale, and intensity of this transformation present both opportunities and challenges. Canada’s government has a pragmatic, ambitious, and informed plan to ensure all Canadians are empowered to use AI in a safe and sovereign way.

AI for All is the government’s new national strategy to ensure that AI is adopted responsibly, in a way that truly serves all Canadians – building trust, expanding opportunities, and reinforcing our sovereignty. With investments, programs, and new measures underway, the strategy will help position Canada as a global leader in this field.

As AI becomes all-encompassing, spanning sectors, industries, and geography, an increasingly wide range of expertise and experience is required to understand and effectively harness this technology. To that end, the Prime Minister, Mark Carney, today announced the launch of a new council to provide independent, practical advice on Canada’s AI transformation.

The Prime Minister’s National Council on Artificial Intelligence will bring together public and private stakeholders and advise on the evolution of the government’s AI for All strategy, including accelerating adoption, fostering national champions, and building sovereign AI infrastructure. Its members will advise on making AI safer, protecting our democracy, and ensuring that all Canadians prosper from AI.

The Council will convene Canada’s leading thinkers, builders, researchers, entrepreneurs, investors, public servants, and international experts to advise on current challenges associated with AI, while helping to generate new ideas, partnerships, AI-focused missions, and initiatives. This includes world-leading experts on AI safety, governance, and oversight.

The Prime Minister is pleased to announce the following members:
