Daily bunny no.3465 needs some snacks and paper towels
A bunny runs down a city street at night, where a small mini-mart has just closed for the night. The owner of the store has just changed the sign on the door to 'closed', and gives the running bunny a sad frown. Another store employee is sweeping up inside.

The Heritage Apple Corps have found trees in central Oregon that are genetic matches for some of the rare "lost" apple varieties we find in the islands. With more sampling, both here and there, we hope to be able to properly identify these varieties and bring them back into production.

I've heard people make claims that AI would lead to a new Renaissance, but I didn't imagine it'd happen like this:
Screenshot of a Tweet from Pope Leo XIV. It reads:

"In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgen to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity."

CVS has a dominant market share here after Rite Aid failed, and my prescription is in a multi-year shortage - I do not know how someone who doesn’t have a job that lets them answer their phone at arbitrary times ever refills it. But vaccines were easy. Lots of appts online, visit took 20 min.
CVS answers the phone with an LLM now. You can't talk to a person, no matter how long you wait on your initial call. You're gonna be told you have to leave a message that gets poorly transcribed often by an LLM, and then at some random time unknown to you, in the future, a pharmacy tech will call you back.
Doesn't matter if because of a disability or chronic illness or what have you, your childcare responsibilities, elder care responsibilities. It doesn't matter if you're not available when they call back. You better be, because they're not calling back again. We're watching the healthcare pharmacy system fall apart even further around us, even though we rely on it in order to survive.
But, but, but, but, but, but CVS still carries vaccines. CVS still carries vaccines. So too does Walgreens.

Hospitals in England hit by shortages of common drugs such as paracetamol
NHS trusts also report disruption to supplies last winter of co-codamol and blood pressure medication ramipril Hospitals are being hit by shortages of key drugs used to provide pain relief, prevent blood clots and tackle high blood pressure. Dozens of NHS trusts in England have encountered scarcities of aspirin, the painkiller co-codamol – a combination of paracetamol and codeine – and ramipril, a blood pressure tablet. Saving the Siamese crocodile: Cambodia moves to protect one of the world’s last wild populations
Indigenous communities play crucial role, as ‘genetic bank’ area of wetland offers hope for critically endangered reptile In the 1990s, conservationists in Cambodia feared the Siamese crocodile had disappeared for good. Fishing and hunting had devastated the species throughout the 20th century, leaving populations across its native south-east Asia on the brink of extinction. But in villages dotted among the wetlands of the remote Cardamom mountains, Indigenous Chorng communities still reported seeing them. Passing this knowledge to researchers surveying the area in 2000 led to an official recording of the species – and bolstered the mission to revive the population. Continue reading...

Soooooooo. As expected, the guy in that story about Muse doing FB Marketplace deals *had* in fact clicked the permission to "always allow" Muse to do things for him. Still very, very poor design by Meta such that the user didn't understand what permission he was giving...

Update on letting Muse run Facebook Marketplace for me.
So I’ve spoken to
@davidsingleton
and the Muse team tonight and we went through the log to figure out what went wrong. Regarding the address leak. The first thing that popped up from Muse when asking it to handle my Facebook marketplace was an option with ‘Allow One Time’ or ‘Allow Always’. I clicked the latter thinking it would still send approvals to accept offers later down the line (it didn’t so be careful).

matt.j.robb

By doing that it granted Muse permission to send messages on my behalf going forwards using a template it put together using information it asked from me. Which also included the pickup address that I did give to Muse (again I didn’t think it would send it out to everyone that gave me an offer so it’s worth checking). I mentioned to the meta team it could be easily overlooked as it was with me and they said they will be making this more clear moving forwards.

Regarding the lowball offer situation. It accepted an offer of $600 and sent out my address to a buyer to come collect the item after I strictly set a minimum of $700 with Muse. The Meta team informed me this was an error on their end which caused a display issue removing the ‘7’ from the output to the buyer. And with it stating “Sounds good, 00 it is!” after the buyer asked for $600 it made it look to the buyer like his offer was accepted.

matt.j.robb

I suggested to Meta that each message sent by Muse should have a little “Sent By Muse” badge underneath so everyone knows it wasn’t sent by a human as there was really no way of knowing who sent what in the chat which is very concerning.
As for the buyer, we made up and he even came by tonight to buy something else. All ended well.
