why are there several emoji for blood (🩸🅰️🆎🅱️🅾️) yet no emoji accounting for excesses of the other three humors? for phlegm, nothing. for yellow bile, nada. and for black bile, zippo. an astonishing oversight

There’s this thing people do where they’re surprised that a rapper has read a book or knows any music theory or something else “intelligent”. Anyway, I hate it. Thank you.

I love this example of refashioning. Whilst the chopping of an 18th century man’s waistcoat might not be quite the thing today, it is a beautiful reimagining of a garment that retains its original details but wholly in the style of #1950s womenswear #museumatFIT #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡
Three quarter view of a cream silk waistcoat covered with floral embroidery. It has pocket flaps and covered buttons consistent with an 18th century man’s waistcoat but has been tailored for a woman in the 1950s

I’m confused about a lot of what he thinks happened. Like did he actually go to a movie theater and have his phone out live-streaming the whole time? But also I am baffled by the subway seat design in his imaginary movie theater.

Mike Flanagan, looking at the cover of The Yellow Wallpaper: well ok this book is about how much a couple loves each other and how nice their relationship is. It's a love story.

Thank you @k8lister.bsky.social for having Paul Baker on Betwixt the Sheets (the best podcast ever of all time for a million different reasons) to talk about Camp! Drama! Decadence! Vulgarity! Everything I adore! So of course I had to go and get myself a copy of his book and SHE HAS ARRIVED.
The cover of CAMP! THE STORY OF THE ATTITUDE THAT CONQUERED THE WORLD along with a plastic pigeon and me with messy, deep pink lipstick on my mouth which is holding a gummy eyeball that appears to be looking at the book.

Me too!! All of my favorite movies growing up I’ve learned from social media were like famously traumatic and I never would have thought of them that way if it wasn’t an “okay I can see it” kind of thing but THIS??? Flat out terrifying. And somehow it’s not ever mentioned along with the others?

Hate it when you see what you think is a cool bird and you look it up later and it’s called like the Common Dumb Asshole. “Birders throughout history have hated its guts. It can’t even fly right.” I thought I saw an interesting guy.

I feel like there are a lot of reasons that all resulted in the death/dwindling of artisanship and also certain skills/techniques/materials becoming less and less available? That’s my totally not expert theory. And then the people with enough money to access those things don’t have personal taste.

The other reason you should read Radium Girls is the lawsuits that came out of the girls being made to eat radium on the job (and a later similar case) helped create OSHA. Remember: safety rules are written in blood.

Ballpoint pen, watercolor, colored pencil, a little crayon, and charcoal pencil.

Our guy pulls up deep in the forest on his 2-speed bike. He’s flanked by tall dark trees and his path is blocked by a massive spider. He lets the Big Fella know it’s on. “Big Fella,” he says. “I fixed my 2-speed. You still wanna race.” Reader, you know Big Fella wants in on that action. Next slide.Against a starry night sky we see silhouettes of Big Fella and our man racing down a hill. It’s unclear in the drawing who will win but Big Fella is likely about to pull away.
