The first issue is simple: it's just a big old hairy lie. Emissions today would be massively higher if we hadn't put blood, sweat and tears over the past ~2 decades (most since 2015) into trying to kick things off. Wind/solar in particular are causing the most obvious reductions in FF burning:

My phone is glitching out so I can't take more screenshots but when I read the whole thing, the message I take is: - things didn't have to be bad but they're going to be - loss of faith in large national and int'l efforts. Even a super well informed PM can't seem to do what it takes.

Discworld QOTD, from Thud!
Would a minute have mattered? No, probably not, although his young son appeared to have a very accurate internal clock. Possibly even 2 minutes would be okay. Three minutes, even. You could go to five minutes, perhaps. But that was just it. If you could go for five minutes, then you'd go to ten, then half an hour, a couple of hours...and not see your son all evening. So that was that. Six o'clock, prompt. Every day. Read to young Sam. No excuses. He'd promised himself that. No excuses. No excuses at all. Once you had a good excuse, you opened the door to bad excuses.

A bright blue faience hippo (not William the blue hippo who is bigger) with a lineup of tiny animal figurines including a couple of frogs and a turtle. All deserve a portion of the attention and gift shop memorabilia devoted to William.
