Tip of the iceberg. Particularly given our “what is causing all this disability” approach to an aka IS and no mention of why AI allergic and other diseases are on the rise. The morbidity of this pandemic dwarfs the mortality. Alive but not really living.

When the Rome foundation realise that in DGBI the GBA is disordered they will then see the reason why these other disorders are so comorbid. DGBI & all the other comdictions listed are disorders of the gut brain axis! The more severe the pt the more diseases. Not rocket science.

It most certainly does. Even when the parents have a team of specialists supporting the diagnosis of LC as the cause of illness, the “experts” in the large teaching hospitals ignore us. Instead of listening and learning from us they allow children to rot in hospital for years. ( no joke)

I am so sick or reading, in a scientific article on #DGBI that treatment is made more difficult by pts diagnosing themselves with the latest social media and TikTok diagnoses of #POTS, #MCAS,#hEDS, #MALS. These are real diagnoses with validated criteria. Just bc most “specialists” who manage DGBI

In case those managing #IBS pts or #DGBI are interested, the symptoms are caused by the undiagnosed POTS/dysautonomia and MCAS/mC degranulation. POTS and MCAS are not co morbidities of IBS they are the cause.

Thankyou. A fantastic article. #mastcells are responsible for the #visceralhypersensitivity we see in #IBS and #IBD. Antihistamines and mast cell stabilizers should be part of every gastro’s most used meds. Why amitryltiline works, it is an antihistamine.
