Star Trek The Next Generation scene. Riker and Worf stand close together for a dude chat in a corridor on the Enterprise D. Worf in gold uniform with silver baldric, Riker in command red. Worf is looking cautiously/suspiciously at Riker. Riker has raised brow and a cheeky grin. Thier eye contact is strong as steel. Closed caption reads, "It's jazz."

Starting my persuasion campaign today to KEEP THE SYRACUSE METS THE METS. There is a contest to change the name - but please don’t! Never saw baseball merch around town until they became the Mets! It’s great!!

Reminder that Syracuse University, home to one of the best sports broadcasting programs also has an excellent theater and performing arts program training broadcasters for the highly specialized commentary required for the Olympics Closing Ceremonies.

As her name rises to top of JMA Wireless Dome today in Syracuse, Kathrine Switzer will be thinking of late Arnie Briggs - Syracuse letter carrier (with her in image) who challenged her to prove she was up to entering Boston Marathon. Switzer not only met the challenge: She helped change history.

Ray Bradbury was one of the most celebrated American authors and screenwriters of the 20th century. He is best known for "Fahrenheit 451" (1953), which was written on a typewriter in Powell Library's basement. Ray Bradbury's papers are stewarded by UCLA Library Special Collections: ucla.in/3VUw2A4
Ray Bradbury contemplates a picture that was part of a project at UCLA to illustrate characters in Bradbury's science-fiction.
Print copy of "The Fireman". “Fahrenheit 451” – which was written on a typewriter in the basement of Powell Library with the original title “The Fireman”– centers on a firefighter in a dystopian world, where books are banned and burned to prevent knowledge.

Author Ray Bradbury and his wife Maggie at their home in Cheviot Hills, Calif., 1970. Los Angeles Times Collection.

“It was a passionate and exciting time for me. Imagine what it was like to be writing a book about book burning and doing it in a library where the passions of all those authors, living and dead, surrounded me.” (UCLA Magazine, 2002)

20 years in bookselling and i didn’t know those numbers meant anything specific
an isbn indicating what the numbers stand for. first number is the language, the next 3 are the publisher, the next 5 are a serial number and the last number is a check digit that indicates all the numbers are correct

The line graph tracks win probability throughout the game by quarter. Early on, the probabilities fluctuated around 50%. Through the first half and into the third quarter, the Ravens’ probability (blue line) was consistently higher, often above 75%. However, in the fourth quarter, the Bills’ probability (black line) surged sharply upward to 100%, while the Ravens’ dropped steeply to 0%, indicating the Bills secured the win.

The best part of the article is a section about his father's unwavering confidence that a turtleneck is the most flattering thing a man can wear—an inflexible and enduring axiom that, Tom writes, his father believed in more than the existence of God.
Excerpt reads: "Anytime my father wears a turtleneck, he is advancing a cause, and the cause is himself. That is what he means when he says that an article of clothing is “flattering.” That is where his maxim extolling the turtleneck acquires its Euclidean certainty. The turtleneck is the most flattering thing a man can wear because it strips a man down to himself – because it forces a man to project himself. The turtleneck does not decorate, like a tie, or augment, like a sport coat, or in any way distract from what my father calls a man’s “presentation;” rather, it fits a man in sharp relief and puts his face on a pedestal – first literally, then figuratively. It is about isolation, the turtleneck is; it is about essences and first causes; it is about the body and the face, and that’s all it’s about; and when worn by Lou Junod, it is about Lou Junod."

Star Trek The Original Series scene. We're on an away mission but did not dress appropriately. In
Picture 1, Bones and Spock are standing outside against a frozen rock wall, huddled and appearing very cold, hands wriggling and arms crossed. It's snowing and they're squinting as if its blizzardy. Spock is shouting. Closed caption reads, "We're in a wilderness of artic characteristics."
Picture 2, only now with Bones yelling. Closed caption reads, "He means it's cold!"Alt in pic 1

Humanely raised turkeys are often more expensive because they eat high-quality food, require more space, and take extra time to raise.
