I finished my Eureka rewatch and now I’m rewatching Warehouse 13 and if I became a billionaire I would fund a streaming service that produces scifi/fantasy shows that are 16 to 23 eps of silly fun, none of which are blockbuster high budget dramas and all of which have a guaranteed 4 season minimum.

The somewhat funny thing is that epic fantasy publishing moved away from elves/dwarves/magic swords stuff decades ago and never moved back--it's all vaguely gritty war and political intrigue now. The most well-known fantasy books these days with elves/dwarves etc in them are probably The Witcher.

There needs to be a wider cultural reckoning with how the values a patriarchal society most exalts actively incentivizes men to either wilfully perpetuate sexual violence or otherwise cover for their "brothers" who do. But as a step towards that, we need to be honest about "brotherhoods".

The idea that women are given special rights based on sex is a remarkably absurd framing and not how discrimination protections actually work in practice. It can only stem from a thoroughly right-wing understanding of the world that believes marginalized people are granted extra entitlements.
