First came the “kratom” headlines. Then came the facts. The Ole Miss cases reportedly involved Pseudo-DHM products, not traditional kratom leaf. Toxicology hasn’t established the cause of death yet. And these products were already prohibited by local and federal law. medium.com/@DrewTurnerM...

Something I’ve been working on. Prohibition just doesn’t work. We keep repeating the same cycle: ban it first, criminalize people, create a black market, and then act surprised when the consequences are worse than the problem we were trying to solve. medium.com/@andrewturne...

Folks look at you like you're crazy when you say we're in the midst of the worst, most unprecedented Article I constitutional crisis in American history, & then it's Saturday. Again, every time someone says "Trump can't do that" the only serious response is "Yes, he can, until Congress removes him"

A significant majority of the $75 billion that Congress gave ICE in the OBBBA will go to private companies that operate most of the machinery of mass deportations; they staff and provide the prisons, they drive the buses, and they own and fly the planes. They are all set to cash in massively.

So I watched the shooting video frame by frame and it looks like: 1) They were beating a struggling man with batons 2) His jacket opened revealing a gun in his waistband or lower back 3) The agent in gray grabbed the gun and was walking away 4) THEN the other agents shot the man in the back

If only we as a country, as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our independence, had some historical events from our founding era that might help us understand why agents of a distant government shouldn’t murder protesters on the streets of the city where they live.

I just watched the shooting video. It's a horrific beating and execution in the middle of the street. If local and state officials don't move to arrest everyone involved for murder, they need to resign. Making arrests will de-escalate the situation. Do nothing and this is going to explode.

DHS said in October that "comparing ICE day-in and day-out to the Nazi gestapo, the Secret Police, and slave patrols has consequences." After I found one of their lawyers for ICE is a racist and a self-described fascist who has praised Hitler, there have been no consequences.
These type of threats against our brave ICE law enforcement officers and their families are disgusting. These officers risk their lives every day to arrest murderers, pedophiles, rapists, terrorists, and gang members from our communities. Comparing ICE day-in and day-out to the Nazi Gestapo, the Secret Police, and slave patrols has consequences," said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. "The men and women of ICE and CBP are fathers and mothers, sons and daughters. They get up every morning to try and make our communities safer. Like everyone else, they just want to go home to their families at night. The violence and dehumanization of these men and women who are simply enforcing the law must stop."

Law enforcement uses 'reasonable suspicion' to make arrests, as protected under the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The Supreme Court has already vindicated us on this position.
A person's immigration status makes them a target for enforcement, not their skin color, race or ethnicity.

NEW: Data released by ICE shows that virtually the entire growth of detention in the last few months has been among people with no criminal record at all - no prior convictions (no matter how minor) and no pending criminal charges.
Chart showing "Detention Population, Among Those Arrested in the interior, by Criminal Record, May 2019 through January 27, 2026. There are three lines on the graph: prior conviction, pending criminal charges, and no criminal record. from 2019 through January 2025, "prior conviction" is by far the highest, followed by pending charges much lower down and "no criminal record" the lowest. During the Biden admin, very few people arrested by ICE in the interior and detained had no criminal record. Beginning in January 2025, all three lines jump, but the highest spike is among those with no criminal records. By September, that has become the single largest. Since that point, there are now thousands more people in detention with no criminal record than people with prior convictions.
