I admit to loving the Harry Potter books when I read them years ago along with enjoying the movies and now, I don't engage with that world anymore, and donate to various trans rights+ support organizations. It's not difficult y'all!

The cats graciously put on a magic show for us last night. I figured out how they did most of the tricks, but I didn’t say anything, because that would have been rude.
Two cats on a platformed tower. One is on the lower level, head hidden behind the middle section. The second is on the top tier with only their head showing.

Another magic wand ✅ 🪄 These are fast becoming one of my favourite things to make, and use fabric scraps and tiny bits of yarn 🧶 What a win! This one is for a birthday kid (and the party is in 2 hours, I didn't even have to rush!).
A handmade magic wand is seen, photographed on top of a Bluey book. The wand is made with woven fabric, adorned with #crochet yarn, beads buttons. The stick part of the wand is an old knitting needle, covered in beads. There is a lot of green, yellow and purple colours. We're now seeing the back of the wand, with a silky fabric covering the part where the knitting needle was glued to the fabric.

#BookWeek costume season is in full swing... The spooky necklace for the 9yo's Bloodmoon huntress costume is now done, crocheting and weaving only thrifted, reused or harvested bits and bobs 🧶 Now to finish the cape, horns, weapons and other things!
The photo shows a rather spooky necklace, with an eyeball and three fish bones as pendants, with some beads in between. The fish bones are attached to each other in one vertical line underneath the eyeball, using a bright red thread.

Book Week's costume prep has an added challenge this year: our &$#=%$!?& of a cat decided to vomit in the middle of the supplies I had lovingly gathered 🙀💀 Oh well, we still have plenty of time, right?
A brown bath towel soon to be a wombat costume is shown, with a purple needle and light mauve yarn used at thread. The sewing so far is quite wonky but it will do.
The cat vomit has thankfully been cleaned...

ICYMI last night’s #4Corners on poor behaviour by #police, it’s well worth a watch. I’ve worked with many excellent and under-appreciated police over decades, but it’s vital they’re held to the highest standard and this story by my colleagues Dylan Welch and Elise Potaka is powerful and disturbing.

Australia's racist party is also its crony capitalist fossil fuel subsidy party. One Nation / Pauline Hanson want to screw over immigrants and brown people and funnel cash towards big corporates. It is so weird to me that this isn't facing more explicit, loud and active opposition.

One Nation Leader Senator Pauline Hanson today addressed the Australian Energy Producers 2026 Conference & Exhibition, outlining One Nation's policy priorities to grow Australia's oil and gas industry.
Senator Hanson said her party understood gas "doesn't magically extract itself - gas production is only possible with the expertise of private industry", pledging to leverage this expertise to maximise Australia's abundant resources.
"We want more gas, more oil and more energy to drive our economy forward, pay down our debts and secure our energy future," she said.
Senator Hanson also announced One Nation's plan for the Federal Government to take an equity stake in future oil and gas projects, and cut red tape to incentivise more oil and gas exploration in Australia.

We have 2 cats, a beautiful, agile black cat, who is as discreet as a shadow whenever he wants to. And a 12 kg ginger tabby who is so heavy that the ground shakes when he runs 😅 He's also very clumsy and has never managed to be silent - maybe he's a cross between a cat and a Labrador 🤔

#crochet birthday axolotl. Once again finished in a hurry 🧶 No legs because they looked like tiny nipples... Made mostly with wool, holding two strands together to get a marled effect. One of my favourite plushies so far, it is so cute!
An adorable #crochet pink and purple axolotl with marled white gills and tail is pictured. It is small enough to fit in the hand of the person taking the picture. It has closed, almost smiley eyes and cute pink button nose

#crochet sleeping capybara for a birthday kid. Mostly made of wool, with some less "natural" fibre for shine and texture. I brushed its ears, tail and jumper for extra fluffiness. Pattern is from Sleek Grace on Ravelry 🧶
Crochet sleeping capybara seen from the side on a plant pot. It is wearing a pink fluffy scarf and a blue, speckled jumper. Same crochet capybara seen from the other side. It is still asleep and looks adorable A close-up to the head, we can see its fluffy ears (they've been brushed) and the precious little nose.
