It’s now official: June–July 2026 was the most anomalously warm two-month period ever recorded in France by a staggering margin. France is now virtually certain to record its warmest summer on record.

The more you know ... The 3-year running average for the global mean surface temperature is now 1.54°C above the 1850-1900 pre-industrial baseline. The Climate 8-ball is looking at pictures of kids playing in fountains.

Global sea-surface temperatures just reached their 50th consecutive record hot day and are expected to continue to rise for another month. This is so far beyond 'bonkers' (technical climate science term) that the Climate 8-ball has decided to start drinking early today.

As of July 19th update, the Nino 3.4 sea-surface temperature is now more than 3.7 standard deviations above the 1991-2020 mean. With the warming just getting started, this El Nino is still in charted territory, but just barely.

Here's an update on global sea-ice extent, as of July 19, 2026. Global sea-ice extent is currently 4th lowest on record for the date, about 2.24 million square kilometers below the 1991-2020 mean. Will a new record low maximum be set later this year? Stay tuned!

This is absolutely terrifying The Nino 3.4 forecast temperature anomaly mean is now at 4C, when even the biggest historical super ninos have seen less than 3C I really have no idea what this is going to bring over the next 12 months, but it will be very, very, grim
