"The specific tree species show are (genus name, genus name, genus name)" Come oooon. The word "genera" exists for a reason. Also nice AI tree illustrations. That's nitpicking though. THIS is a big problem:

What depresses me the most is the failure of journalistic framing. In the 30's, this kind of pressure was novel and the society was far more racist. We should know better now and yet the mass media appears to have barely advanced. We can do better.

Yes but also no. Palantir is just cleverly the software. Without the data collection provided by a Flock or similar, it's not nearly as powerful. They are synergistic.

Oh huh yeah the front section isn't as prickly. Hmmm Do you know of the ZeFrank video with a cat drinking in slow motion? IIRC cats don't "scoop forward" at all, it's more straight up and down, then chomp on the levitating water column. Let me see if I can find it.

Sooo they drink with wet adhesion instead of scooping like a dog. Very odd when you think about it initially (because of the short papillae) but they do have the barbs to catch the water better. I think the split might do more when they're cleaning bone. Allows them to wrap around edges better?

When you think of money as "other people's labor", which it basically is, a lot of social institutions become very strange. For example, did you know that you can inherit millions of hours of other people's labor? Why.

A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they don’t die. Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200,000 per year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.

Yeah, he got it slightly wrong. It was fungi that needed to develop the ability to digest lignin that allowed oils to develop (and also bascially ended all coal production forever). You're missing the point though; when some adaptations happen it takes a while for a balancing adaptation to occur.
