I've been very lucky to have a few published authors join me on Discworl Order. @jensugden.bsky.social , co creator of Victoriocity and co author of High Vaultage, talked about the 1st Discworld novel that she read: Maskerade.

On the right its Maskerade by Terry Pratchett. It is the original Josh Kirby cover and it contains multiple opera singers, an orchestra, a lot of fancy interior architecture, a witch and a very short man with a helmet and an axe. The lack of beard and context suggests that is Nobby Nobbs. This angle of the cover does not show the troll playing a tuba.

Reading a listicle on novels from the 2000's, and while it lists Night Watch as number 2, I'm baffled as to why it highlights Lord Winder as a "truly colourful character".

Terry was unabashedly UK-oriented (having been born and bred in that thoughtstyle). He knew his strength, and wasn't going to subvert it for the sake of a different market. The US film market tried to get him to change for the US market, and Terry (rightly) blew them off. Lose DEATH? *Seriously?*

So I finally visited the Uffington White Horse after saying that Ive wanted to go for years. Its best seen from a bit further away, but I brought something as a bit of a context clue.
