i think its also pretty important to remember that the US Very Extremely Does Not Want A Strong Democratic Iran. they want a weak and geopolitically irrelevant wasteland. Iran used to be a strong democracy and they fucking slaughtered it which eventually created the theocracy to begin with

Her parents Ruwee & Jobal were played by actors in their mid-late 50s in deleted scenes for Episode II. Entirely possible they were still alive during the original trilogy too (though in comics set after IV, an investigation on Naboo on behalf of Vader trying to find his son in doesn't mention them)

They do learn about her at some point but it's still really weird that she's never mentioned, yeah, especially after Luke finds out about his dad. More a fault of the original films' sexism than anything to do with the prequels though (not that those are perfect on that front)
