Have been a regular for ~35 years at Lansdowne but couldn’t stomach it this evening. None of us took our season ticket seats. Would have enjoyed seeing that goal live but struggling to articulate how we feel about this team. It was good to see the protest there despite RTÉ cutting away a lot.

Christa Pike was tortured yesterday by the state of TN in every single USians name and the fact is that this is a country that is mostly OK with this. This says everything about all of us. We are all implicated in this barbaric practice. It's sickening.

I mean... Of course the CDU supported this!! They're fucking Nazis. They were founded by Nazis, they pushed for Nazis to be readmitted to public life, they abandoned the trials of middle and lower level Nazis, all those Nazis joined the party and set their policies. Like the PP=Falange, CDU=NSDAP

I despise the act (except for genocide) but, like you say, if twere done twas best done well. Pierrepoint studied the issues and developed his methods with a purpose, as, bizarrely, did the KGB. That purpose was to end life without unnecessary suffering, something the US seems to revel in.

It was certainly not a bed of roses for Jews, either. But the 80s were worse in almost every way. Open neonazis, destruction of communities and culture, a rampant sell off of everything not nailed down, and plenty that was.

An annoying argument in favour of FPTP is the idea that any PR system breaks the connection between MP and constituency. This argument is exceptionally annoying given that the UK's closest neighbour, Ireland, has a PR system that is arguably too locally focused. www.qmul.ac.uk/mei/policy-h...
Statement that "FPTP ensures that there is just one MP per
constituency. Polling shows this constituency link
to be very popular with British voters."

If the UK is to adopt any sort of variant of multi seat PR, then I'd urge them to have a strong, independent Constituency Commission. Ireland had the Tulkymander, and lately a CC with terms of reference designed to promote larger parties, as in Wicklow/Wexford and Cork.

Why is Fionnáin like this? I mean, he so desperately wants to be Mr Anti32. St. David's day isn't a holiday in England, Scotland or NI. St. Andrews day is only a holiday in Scotland. Régional holidays are a thing all over the EU.

Spent the afternoon with friends on the Garvaghy Road, listening to stories of local people’s grief and trauma from the last time around. This is no way to live. Love and solidarity, peace and progress to all. We have come so far. We are one society, one community. We cannot go back.

To demonstrate that they are Supreme, that they control society, to show catholics and people of colour that they will never be truly part of Scottish Society, and to fulfil some weird Presbyterian biblical prophecies.

It's the equating Orangeism == Nationalism. Not recognising that Orangeism is predicated on racial & ethnic exclusionary identity, with whole heaps of Supremacies and very odd Bible interpretation. The two are not comparable, i can't even think of an equivalent on the Nationalist side.

The Parades Commission decision came after a private, no minutes meeting with Jamie Bryson and a former member of a loyalist paramilitary organisation. If you read the commission's decision, there is no consideration whatsoever given to the likelihood of trouble in Portadown and the wider community

One Irish player has said he won't play Israel. Two others are believed to have the same view. Disgrace the players have been put in this position. FAI “postponed” training at 9.56am Hungary time. The press conference was scheduled for 10.15am. Training 11am. That has not happened.

When India's school leaving exams were demonstratively poorly marked, the government was almost toppled, and it led to a citizen rebellion which is still playing out. When 20% of appeals against Leaving Cert marks are upheld, improving people's grades, the result in #Ireland? Nothing. Just Nothing
