Energy transitions can happen faster than we think: In 2000 almost 90% of Denmark's electricity was from fossil fuels. In 2024 less than 10% of Danish electricity was from fossil fuels.

1/ We were thrilled to see 50+ MPs and Peers at the Overlapping Illness Alliance drop-in last week. Thanks to your emails, nearly 80% of MPs got an invite, one even said it was the most letters they'd ever had about an event. Your support genuinely made a difference.
A group of eight people stand together in a meeting room beside a tall banner for the Overlapping Illness Alliance. The banner displays the Alliance logo and partner organisation logos. The group are smiling for the photo, and several are wearing visitor lanyards. A table in the foreground holds leaflets, and the room has large windows and modern wooden paneling.

OVERLOOKED: Thermal energy storage doesn’t get enough attention. The world’s thermal storage facility currently being built in Finland will be able to store a whopping 90GWh - that’s 30x more than the largest electric storage facility in operation today.

You may think that neurological symptoms in #LongCovid are for old people, but it is the opposite. Young adults (18–44 years) and middle-aged (45–64 years) with mild acute #COVID cases (non-hospitalized), represent 90% of the cases of #NeuroCovid. Read here: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...
Screenshot of the study published yesterday Annals of Neurology. Title: Neurologic Manifestations of Long COVID Disproportionately Affect Young and Middle-Age Adults. Interpretation: Younger and middle-age individuals are disproportionally affected by post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (Neuro-PASC) regardless of acute COVID-19 severity. Although older people more frequently have abnormal neurologic findings and comorbidities, younger and middle-age patients suffer from a higher burden of Neuro-PASC symptoms and cognitive dysfunction contributing to decreased QoL. Neuro-PASC principally affects adults in their prime, contributing to profound public health and socioeconomic impacts warranting dedicated resources for prevention, diagnosis and interventions. Everyone is trying to identify Satoshi Nakamoto, but all I want is the story behind the Japanese guy who gave modems to the Czech student revolutionaries in 1989, mentioned by Bruce Sterling in his 1995 article www.wired.com/1995/01/prag.... Did anyone ever follow up on this?
A highlight from a 1995 article that says, "And then, without any warning or fanfare, some quiet Japanese guy arrived at the university with a valise full of brand-new and unmarked 2400-baud Taiwanese modems. The astounded Czech physics and engineering students never did quite get this gentleman's name. He just deposited the modems with them free of charge, smiled cryptically, and walked off diagonally into the winter smog of Prague, presumably in the direction of the covert-operations wing of the Japanese embassy. They never saw him again.

There doesn't seem to be much doubt that this Japanese guy existed. I've talked to four different sources who claim to have seen him in the flesh."
