I have never seen neurodiversity used this way: "These include limiting the number of assessments the ICBs will pay for in any given year and using “clinical prioritisation” criteria to restrict assessment to those with the most serious signs of neurodiversity."

It’s telling that the only thing most people are interested in knowing about autism is what causes it & how to avoid it. How are #autistic people supposed to live in a world that sees us this way? As a “risk” to avoid rather than as fellow humans & community members?

Take a minute to really absorb the scale of what you're seeing. This is 'Cueva de los Cristales', the Cave of the Crystals, near the city of Naica in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. The crystals are selenite, a type of gypsum. They formed over the last 1 million years. (📷: Javier Trueba, MSF)
A man stands in a cave filled with white crystals, many of them much taller and larger than he is. The scale is hard to even understand.

CREDIT: Javier Trueba

From the C&EN article I'm citing below:
"For millennia, conditions within the Cave of Crystals (290 m underground) were perfect for the growth of gypsum crystals, allowing them to grow to their massive size. Credit: Javier Trueba/MSF/Science Source"

Not sure how I feel about this, but "overcame autism and other disabilities that left him nonverbal until almost age 12 and unable to read or write until age 18, then earned a Ph.D." is grating. I did learn you can blame early problems on "autism and bad supervision" so I have that in my pocket.

Oh my god the dietician who is telling everyone in the White House to only eat steak and sauerkraut doesn't wipe his ass.
To O’Mara, the diet is not just a temporary means of losing weight but a way to eat for good. He has been doing it for 10 years, and credits it with turning his life around. At one point in our conversation he pulled up the Bristol Stool Chart, which ranges from Type 1 (“separate, hard pellets”) to Type 7 (“watery, no solid pieces”). O’Mara is consistently delivering Type 4 (“smooth, soft, like a snake”), with pointed ends, indicative of healthy rectal function, he told me. “When you start eating healthy, you don’t need toilet paper,” he claimed. “Animals in the wild have no residual stool on their anus.” He described a proper bowel movement to me this way: odorless, wipe-free, over in three to seven seconds and “nearly orgasmic.”

“I could have a bowel movement behind a sheet at a dinner party in the corner of the room,” he said, “and nobody would know.”

I know I have had the problem where I get a permanent artifact on my screen (until reboot) for a very long time. I'd say "as long as I have had Windows," but I'm not going to claim it was there in 3.11 or wherever I started. How is this not fixed?
