Simon @depaneuse.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Subsidies to corporations and businesses are quite common in our societies. Some say most jobs are created this way. However when subsidies go against available resources and health of citizen you have to wonder why these are approved. Accountability is missing. 000
Simon @depaneuse.bsky.social · 24/09/2026You need money to build public housing. There hasn’t been money since Mulroney divested in social housing then Chrétien and Martin killed it. In the mean time, any solution in mind? 010
Simon @depaneuse.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Subsidies to the rich is the only constant for this municipal gov. Across party lines. You would think owners of 10 million $ homes could afford sandbags. 101
Simon @depaneuse.bsky.social · 24/09/2026How would you propose we dramatically increase supply? Seems like the point where the two visions collide. Michael is suggesting you need for profit developers to do that and they will build high end (high profit) units. I would argue, reality supports that statement. 100
Simon @depaneuse.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Should the province or the feds pay for city sewers? Water treatment plants? Of course not. If the federal/provincial gov pays for those infrastructure it tells all the cities that they can mismanage their funds, under-tax their citizen and let sewers burst. Simon @depaneuse.bsky.social · 24/09/2026That picture represents what's wrong with north american cities. Infrastructure is in disrepair? Maintenance is pushed back till sewers explode? The city is a corporation that should build what it has the means to maintain. Simple as that. 100
Simon @depaneuse.bsky.social · 24/09/2026That picture is perfect. Here's a modern city (Vancouver) that tries to give everyone (who can afford it) a single family home.
