Cal and their family shouldn't have to do this. It's tough being a trans adult in the uk and it's torture being a trans child. The government could cheaply fix it so easily but they either don't care or want us to suffer. Sacrificing the human rights of a minority to keep the media onside.

the 'obey adults' rule that i'd learned and internalised caused me serious issues that day -- i did not know that some adults were not safe and it was okay to run away from them and seek help. i spent the whole awful encounter misinterpreting the man's instructions, so my sister and i were safer

Since starting transition (2021), I've had 3 incidents of note: 1. followed in the street and asked for a date (and if I had a boyfriend) 2. sat next to in a bar and had my knee touched and rubbed 3. on a bus, a man grabbed my hand and started stroking it I react by freezing, which is not helpful.

What is affirmative therapy? If a client says "I think I might be gay" or "I think I might be trans," the therapist still asks "why do you think that?" but first, they AFFIRM that it is okay to be gay or trans, creating a more honest space. "It's okay if you are. What makes you think you are?"

The transphobes leading the Labour Party decided to exclude trans women from the Labour Women’s conference. In doing so they excluded a huge number of cis women also; the venue was only 20% full. Labour needs to learn that transphobia harms everyone, including cis women, & not just trans people.
