Fan translation groups working on projects that end up getting a lazy machine translation; don't give up. If you wanted to start it but it got an MTL, still do it. I guarantee there are many who still want your genuine work.

Far in the future, far across the galaxy... It's was a tall order to cram a portion of space opera epic The Five Star Stories into a single 66 minute OVA (Sunrise, 1989). Urusei Yatsura's Kazuo Yamazaki gave it his best though, bringing to life from manga pages this world of mysticism and mecha.

A still from the bluray release, with a busy Phantasy Star IV-alike city scene with Ladioss Sop, a femme-y guy with long chestnut blonde hair resting casually resting on a floating bulbous bike with middle eastern-ey citizens around him

A pristine blue sky and clouds, with beams of light cast down the Greek mythology inspired scene of extravagant white robed figures in a line and a young woman approaching them.

A bulky mecha in closeup with pilots disembarking

One of my favourite shots from the OVA, a tall techie tower structure in a barren desert wasteland, with a wooden sign pointing in all directions close to the camera. All beneath a burnt orange-yellow-blue cloudy sky.

A 2003 ad for Castlevania: Lament of Innocence, an action adventure for the Sony PlayStation 2 This was the Castlevania series' debut on the PS2 and revealed the origin of the Belmont clan and their battle against the creature that became Dracula. "A thousand years ago, a legend was indeed born."

This page shows several screenshots from the game, a rating of "M" for Mature, and quotes from game publications such as PLAY and EGM praising the game.

The main text describes the epic backdrop of the game opening with "At the dawn of the second millennium, the first Belmont makes the ultimate sacrifice. And the destiny of a bloodline is decided." The game, headed by Castlevania veteran, Koji Igarashi, was intended as the series' origin story showing how the Belmont bloodline would become vampire killers and how the series' version of Dracula had come to be.

This page displays an illustration by longtime series collaborator, Ayami Kojima, which was also used on the cover for the PS2 case of the game.

Screenshots showing scenes from the game are also shown along the bottom along with a quote from PSM: "Konami's classic adventure series looks drop dead gorgeous in 3D and plays brilliantly."

Baleful eyes stare out at the reader as adventurers make their way through danger in this late 1991 ad from Japan celebrating the arrival of FTL's Dungeon Master on the Super Famicom First released on PCs in 1987, it became an influential title for many dungeon crawlers that followed!

The ad tells a bit of the story behind Dungeon Master that goes something like this as it warns the reader about to be told the true horror that waits in its dungeons:

Lord Chaos schemes to conquer the world. Twenty four heroes invaded his stronghold deep beneath his mountain retreat only to be captured in magic mirrors. Now you, as the last hero, are sent and must recruit a party from these prisoners in a final bid to end his ambition in a real-time experience filled with puzzles and traps.

Slated for arrival in November (of 1991) on an 8MB (megabit) cartridge with RAM backup for ¥9,800. Victor Musical Industries published the port!

At the bottom of the ad, two more Super Famicom games are also advertised:

* Super Star Wars
* Ys III: Wanderers from Ys
