Great letter to the editor from @activetransportation.org Divvy is such an important part of Chicago's transportation network. Bikes and e-bikes give Chicagoans more ways to get around, connect to transit, and make everyday trips without a car 🚲💙

👏👏👏 We couldn’t agree more!
When you take a transit vehicle with strangers, there is an inherent trust you're giving to one another. That trust in each other is so essential to the health of our larger society and our democracy.

When we start to drive people away and send messages that that shared space is not a place to be, you're going to see our institutions and our societal structures start to dismantle. I believe in CTA not just for Chicago, but really for our country.

One clarification is this article makes it seem like the contract extension has already been done, but this is a proposed contract extension that was introduced to City Council today. It will need to be voted on and approved in both the Committee on Pedestrian & Traffic Safety then full council.

Did you know Chicago Municipal Code requires daylighting at intersections? Keeping vehicles back from crosswalks helps everyone see and be seen. The principle is already in City code. But it's also important to look at how street design can make that protection physical, visible & self-enforcing.

Yellow arrows illustrate existing daylighting requirements, with 20 feet of clear space on one approach and 30 feet on the other to keep parked vehicles away from the intersection and improve visibility.

Slide titled “What Did We Update?” outlining CDOT’s updated Transportation Demand Management guidelines. The updates establish consistent, transparent, streamlined requirements intended to reduce staff time and development costs. They include a single worksheet for all developments; use of traffic impact study data to inform TDM strategies; a complete list of acceptable strategies with implementation details, costs, legal commitments, and potential VMT reductions; a clearer process; and a restructured policy that prioritizes the highest-impact programs.
