We can’t agree more with today’s guest essay in the Roundtable: Evanston needs to speed up its plan to slow drivers. Cities like Somerville and Hoboken have eliminated traffic deaths through Vision Zero. Evanston can do the same. evanstonroundtable.com/2026/09/14/g...

Those biking on Church St such as restaurant-goers, shoppers, and families visiting the library are now safer with new flex-posts. This was a section of bike lane frequently blocked by illegally parked vehicles. Thanks to local advocates, City Staff and Council taking action here to increase safety!

Safer crosswalks near Foster & Haven schools plus a lower speed limit on Emerson are coming soon— solid wins for bike/ped safety. We could go further, though, with increased funding and ambition to build more widespread and robust traffic calming like raised crosswalks and intersections.
