We're committed to building a safer and more accessible transportation system. By creating a dedicated bus lane on Michigan Avenue, we are reducing delays, improving service, and ensuring that the thousands of Chicagoans who rely on public transit can get where they need to go.

More bus service is coming this fall! 🚍 Beginning August 23, we’re boosting frequency and expanding hours on 7 bus routes, plus welcoming 3 new lines to our Frequent Network—with even more service upgrades coming before the end of the year!
The Frequent Network has saved riders 55 million minutes of waiting time since its launch in March 2025. 
On August 23, 2026, three more routes will be added to the network, with wait times of 10 minutes or less.More service staring this fall

Starting this school year, getting around the Chicago region will cost less for K–12 students. CTA & Pace student fares will be standardized at 75 cents per ride, any time of day, year-round. 🚌🎒

Five years ago today, the 1,000-ton Vautravers Building arrived in its new location 📍 In about 24 hours, the 127-year-old building was moved approximately 30 feet west and 10 feet south toward N Clark Street in order to reconstruct century-old Red and Purple Line track structures.

Our crews installed nearly 1,000 feet of new Green Line track over this past weekend. This work is just one of six slow zone removal projects in 2026, which will remove roughly six miles of slow zones across six lines.

We're expanding our Automated Bus Lane Enforcement (ABLE) systems to equip a total of 52 buses with camera technology to automatically enforce parking and standing violations in bus and bike lanes, and bus stops.
Between October 15, 2025, and the end of May 2026, ABLE systems on buses captured a total of 21,686 warnings and violations14% decrease in bus stop violations from January to April of this yearThe city's pilot zone area now encompasses

Thanks to the hard work of our crews, riders will be able to resume subway service! Over the past three weekends, our crews made improvements to 2,400+ feet of Red Line track between the State Street subway portal and Armitage station.
