On the occasion of the reissue of URSULA K LE GUIN: CONVERSATIONS ON WRITING, Mumbai-based writer and editor Anushree Nande interviewed me for The Rumpus about collaborating on the book with Ursula. Our conversation was given the wonderful title "Nothing is Too Small to Contain the World"

Wow. David is one of the best literary interviewers, does a deep dive to prepare, which allows him to ask questions that truly honor writer and material. This episode with China Miéville is one of the best, a true conversation/discussion/meeting of minds.

Hard to overstate my excitement about this book. Now I *really* want to listen to this podcast but also...not. I know almost precisely zero about the book, a rare treat. That said, 1200 pages? Jesus. At the rate I'm reading at the moment I'll still be at it when my kids finish college.

"That's not what I am saying. I'm asking."💥🌠💥 --Claudia Rankine, TRIAGE
There might be no solutions, only recognitions, I said. We all already know there is no cease in any ceasefire. What's in place is in place. We seem unable to reroute our trajectories. We don't believe the future will happen, even as we experience it happening. Shouldn't we at the very least be grieving the bodies on the ground? Every day some must forever live resistance; every day some must forever have been abandoned. Death doesn't make distinctions; it just cuts through carcass and calls itself a transformation. What now? As it all poured from me, the theorist stood still.

You might be right, it might be too late for a fight, they said, warily. But you are also wrong.

That's not what I am saying, I said, shaking my head. That's not what I am saying. I'm asking.
