Brilliant!! I can remember reading The Course of the Heart in 99'(ish) & finding it miserable, dour & inaccessible. I think I tried it in the context of the New Weird (Mieville was always talking about him). Luckily I loved Light & was able (& willing) to go back & start working out how to read him.
