fwiw if you want to make a strategic case for congressional democrats trying to impeach trump if they take majorities, i think the first step is impeaching hegseth, the bar is lower and the likelihood of success is probably much higher

Texas, in particular, is actually very easy to draw as a Dem gerrymander because it's so urbanized. here's a map that's 22R-16D by Trump 2024 numbers but 19-19 for Biden 2020 and 21D-17R for O'Rourke 2018, and it's cleaner than the actual 30R-8D 2026 map davesredistricting.org/maps#viewmap...

Lawgeeks, this decision out of the 5th Cir. today starts with the premise "Is *My 600-lb Life* a reality show?", but it's really about whether appellant forfeited the question. Produced some very readable opinions by Judges Duncan, Ho, and Oldham. www.ca5.uscourts.gov/opinions/pub...
Megalomedia frames its appeal as presenting basically one question: “What is a ‘reality show’?” It contends that, because the term has no set meaning in the television industry, no one knows for certain whether My 600-lb Life qualifies as one. So, Megalomedia argues the district court erred by not reading the exclusion against Philadelphia. We decline to enter this debate. While it would be fun to plumb the nuances of the term “reality show”—and ponder, as Megalomedia bids us, whether Monday Night Football and Fox News are “reality shows”—this appeal presents no such question. Why, you ask? Because Megalomedia makes this argument for the first time on appeal. Indeed, in the district court, Megalomedia took the opposite position: it told that court, over and over, that My 600-lb Life was, in fact, a “reality show.” Its argument was that the policy really did cover “reality shows” . . . like My 600-lb Life. Having lost that argument, Megalomedia cannot now pirouette 180 degrees on appeal and try a new one. That is the reality of forfeiture.James C. Ho, Circuit Judge, concurring: We’re asked here to decide: Is My 600-lb Life a reality TV show? I’m reminded of countless other questions that have been the subject of good-natured public debate. Is a hot dog a sandwich? Is cereal a soup? Is Die Hard a Christmas movie?1 Megalomedia hopes that we’ll find today’s question at least genuinely contestable among people of good faith as well. Alas, I’m not so sure. But there’s a bigger problem. On appeal, Megalomedia fervently denies that My 600-lb Life is a reality TV show. But it took precisely the opposite position in the court below. And that reversal is fatal to its appeal.

During one of the aforementioned shenanigans, the hitlady ends up poisoning one of the sisters to keep her from killing the victim in the parking lot of a courthouse!
The next day, Owen drove Murphy to the courthouse where Mena was scheduled for his custody hearing. Owen told Murphy that if they saw Mena in the parking lot, Owen would “plow him over” because Murphy “didn’t do [her] job right” the night before. Murphy testified that the sisters “didn’t really care what [she] did. They just wanted him dead.” But Murphy had other plans. As the custody hearing was ending, while Mena was still in the courthouse, Murphy drugged Owen’s drink with blood pressure medication “that make[s] you have to go pee . . . [s]o she would have to go to the bathroom and wouldn’t see him leaving.” The gambit worked, and Mena left the courthouse unscathed. The plan foiled again, Owen drove Murphy back home to Alabama, “cussing” her and calling her “useless” because she “didn’t do what [she] was supposed to do.”

6th Cir. holds that Michigan judge who reacted to a student falling asleep during a program in his courtroom by ordering her handcuffed, detained, and then put through a mock trial streamed on YouTube is not shielded by judicial immunity. www.opn.ca6.uscourts.gov/opinions.pdf...
Here, Till has put forth sufficient allegations to show that Judge King’s actions did not further an “official act or sanction,” see id., but rather related to Judge King’s “private interests,” see Barnes, 105 F.3d at 1119. Indeed, Till alleges that Judge King had ELG locked in a “holding cell” and conducted a “phony mock trial” only because Judge King was offended by ELG nodding off while he was lecturing about his career as a lawyer. And Judge King is alleged to have “admitted to the press” that he was simply intending to “scare” ELG because she had “disrespect[ed]” him. Till also alleges that there is no case number, order, or any other court record associated with the events that transpired. This matters because the existence of a court record or order indicates that a judge’s actions constituted judicial acts. See Stump, 435 U.S. at 360–61 (explaining that a judge was entitled to judicial immunity despite procedural deficiencies because the judge “took cognizance” of his actions by signing a petition and “act[ing] upon it” (quoting In re Summers, 325 U.S. 561, 567 (1945))). The absence of such an order or record here therefore suggests the opposite—that Judge King’s actions were nonjudicial.

BREAKING: Trump's trust is ordered to turn over financial documents "from the date of January 1, 2023, to the present" responsive to a subpoena issued in Trump's defamation case against the BBC. The first production is due in 10 days.
ANALYSIS
Plaintiff alleges damages in an amount up to $10 billion which include damage
to "the value of [Plaintiffs] brand, properties, and businesses..." Compl. 9101 and at
32. As represented by the parties, virtually all of these "properties and businesses" are owned by the Trust. See generally Disc. Mot., ECF No. 52. Despite the Complaint's
