I would like to be able to see a strategy behind the apparent lack of action on the black-clad “protesters” blockading ports. I cannot see anything happening though and it seems that they have just got away scot-free in a way retired climate protesters didn’t.

100's of fascists storm Dover *explicitly* to block roads with the threat of violence in a racist "protest": No arrests. Just Stop Oil members plan to disrupt a highway in a zoom call: 4-5 year sentences. The pigs don't go after fascists for the same reason Peter Parker never fights Spider-Man.

In the summer of 2013, two esoteric, technical, incredibly important texts were published within weeks of one another: the first is the Snowden leaks, which revealed a system of global, pervasive digital surveillance. 1/
"Eugène Delacroix's painting 'La Liberté guidant le peuple' ('Liberty Leading the People'), depicting the French revolution as a ragtag group of peasants led by a flag-waving, bare-breasted incarnation of 'Liberty.' The painting has been altered: the scene is now being observed with a giant, smoke-shrouded CCTV dome, and the distant building have been replaced with a mainframe computer.

This video clip of a swan landing on a lake is best enjoyed with AUDIO ON. Mute swans (Cygnus olor) are among the heaviest flying birds & require a long runway, which means we get the majestic approach, a few furious moments of webbed feet slapping on water, then the majestic splashdown.

This is a good write up of the Nature anisotropy paper debacle. But while Sawala is right that it's unfair to the referees to expect them to have caught the big "elemental" mistake in the paper, he's also being very generous - there is another important error that the referees *should* have caught.

Man, this fuckin' thing. I've given a closer look to THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF ALL: FANTASY WARGAMING It is incredibly fascinating, and undoubtedly cursed. 🧵
The cover of (The Highest Level of All) Fantasy Wargaming, compiled and edited by Bruce Galloway.

In the lower left corner, an old, bearded man reads a book. Behind him, a minotaur with angel wings, a couple of snakes, and some sort of gold cudgel thing are in the process of coming to life out of a book behind him.

It's probably worth noting that the minotaur's nipples are VERY prominent, and the snakes/cudgel are all positioned such that they look like they are coming from (or may be) his junk. It's off-putting, is what I'm getting at.

Why do people you know keep posting screenshots of summaries from AI as if this proves anything in an argument? Why do questions like "how do you know the information from AI is correct?" fall on deaf ears? I suggest that the reason has to do with consensus and the legitimation of knowledge 🧵
