There are many uses for AI in science - modeling, data analysis, certain diagnostics - none of those are LLMs and frankly not even really “AI” as we’ve come to know it at all and TBH we need a different name for this kind of “AI” so the science stuff can stop getting dragged into this argument.

People message me that my assets get resold at Fab, itch.io & Roblox. Technically that's legal (sort of debatable), but I still feel it's unfair for people that pay for them while they could've been free. I want my assets to be free, please keep them free.

Applies to tool design in general, especially software. Notetaking apps, AI use, etc. Managing things vs actually getting what you need done. Not just about usability or affordances, but also affects capabilities like visual spatial thinking, critical thinking, etc.

It's not just with s/w. So much of our human institutions and systems strip out the humanity for 'efficiency' and we (esp looking at the PMs) refused to fix or automate them for decades. Now with the hype of AI, suddenly, fixing things to make them easier for bots to interface with is a priority.

Genuinely, this concern about AI is one of the reasons why I think having friction in video games is good and why it's increasingly important to have games that simply exist instead of catering to our expectations. Reposting this message from Kojima about "pre-digested" art:

No. 18 A Garden of Spheres vol. 1: Impossible not to be awestruck for all 329 pages of this. Completely mesmerising colour work & many a perfect drawing by Sterte. I knew there would be Le Guin-esque stuff, but a lot of this was very Frank Herbert in its scale & off-handedness. Cool contrast

Such great momentum to this page. Sterte's great at sound effects sometimes. Screentones beautiful also

Loved how the captioning in the nature documentary sequences is in the gutters. Incredible colours here, also
