AI is the Gyges' ring of student work: it offers perfect concealment of wrongdoing. If Glaucon is right, then everyone will use it to do injustice (cheat), & will be wise to do so. If Socrates/Plato is right, then doing so also harms the wrong-doer, whose soul will be malformed into misery by it.

Marx on the invention of machines and its relationship with the working class. It’s crazy that the automation discourse was fully anticipated by him, including the recent AI one, which just falls to this discursive purview.
Marx Capital Vol 1 quoted in Russ’ Working Nature. It states: “It was... the invention of machines that made a revolution in the form of steam engines necessary. As soon as man, instead of working on the object of labour with a tool, becomes merely the motive power of a machine, it is purely accidental that the motive power happened to be clothed in the forms of human muscles; wind, water, or steam could just as well take man's place.49”

I draw 2 conclusions: 1) the victory of the US empire at the end of 1991 has been TERRIBLE for US citizens (and genocidal for the rest of the world) and 2) the absence of guillotines on US streets is a testament to how much ideology matters; and explains the assault on humanities.
