Issu des marges du mouvement ouvrier et de l'écologie politique, le marxisme écologique est devenu l'un des foyers de la revitalisation du marxisme après la chute du bloc de l'Est. S'affirmant comme courant à la fin des années 1980, cette vaste entreprise exégétique, analytique et politique constitue désormais une ressource précieuse pour appréhender les catastrophes écosociales de l'Anthropocène. Cet ouvrage se donne pour objectif d'en présenter les principes fondamentaux.
Il revient d'abord sur son émergence avant d'aborder les différentes relectures de l'écologisme de Karl Marx. Il s'attache ensuite à ses développements contemporains, depuis l'analyse des causes historiques du dérèglement planétaire en cours (Capitalocène contre Anthropocène, capitalisme fossile, impérialisme écologique) jusqu'aux débats théoriques et stratégiques qui accompagnent l' aggiornamento environnemental de la théorie marxienne de l'émancipation (État, planification écologique, sujet révolutionnaire).

Marius Bickhardt est doctorant en théorie politique au Centre d'études européennes de Sciences Po et au Centre Marc-Bloch à Berlin.
Gauthier Delozière est doctorant en théorie politique à Sciences Po Paris.
