Today Igalia turns 25. Ten engineers started it in A Coruña in 2001 with no investors and no managers. There are now close to 200 of us, and everything we build still goes upstream. igalia.com/2026/09/21/T...

What happens when browsers agree with each other, but disagree with the specification? A few days ago, my colleague @bkardell.com pointed out that this sometimes happens! You might expect us to fix the browsers. But sometimes, we change the specification instead. www.atbrakhi.dev/blog/browser...

Just started digging into @wpewebkit.org over the past week. I've got a quick prototype of Linux booting and running Cog to display my own web view. Also excited about the @igalia.com and Wind River embedded web runtime. Is there code or a preview available for this?

This is a super special release of WPE! New WPEPlatform API that superseeds the good old libWPE + backends architecture, a new Skia-based compositor, lots of performance improvements, new documentation and tutorials... check it out! #wpe #webkit

<wa-combobox> can pull options from your server now! Set a dataSource callback, get debounced fetch + loading/error/empty slots, and improve performance by not shipping thousands of options in your DOM.

That is super cool. Lit is my favorite front-end library. I wish more companies used it because I am sick to death of working with React and making walled garden components. Big fan of your work @justinfagnani.com.

I dug up a bunch of old book covers I re-created using HTML and Tachyons (CSS utility library that pre-dates Tailwind by 3 years) and converted them to run on my site today. Lot of fun seeing these almost 10 year-old creations running in my own framework. dakroub.co/log/book-cov...

I created it for myself but thought others might like the HTML-first approach. Definitely will support anyone using it. I use it myself for various projects now and put a lot into the documentation, recipes and examples.

I also don't use models for everything, so having a shared approach for human and machine that is close to vanilla is ideal for me.
110
Joe Dakroub @dakroub.co · 16/09/2026
Yeah, I'm sort of in the middle. I value vanilla approaches, but they can fail on basic things like how do I shared the <head> between documents or how do I create layouts? The framework takes a vanilla approach and enhances it to solve some of these questions without adding much more.

Joe Dakroub @dakroub.co · 16/09/2026
Definitely would be honored to have you take a look at the framework! I just released it recently and have been hardening it to get to a 1.0. I modeled it after your article and wanted something that is just stable, HTML and standards-focused and easy to come back to when away for a time.

I did end up creating my own framework, transclude, that creates a nice HTML-based baseline for building simple and complex things pretty easily. Focus is on Web Standards and make creating Custom Elements pretty easy too. transclude.dev

The killer feature of PWAs is not that they update automatically or they’re cross-platform. The absolute killer feature of PWAs is that they can be freely distributed without any app store dependency No risk that one party can kill your distribution and end your business. That’s a killer feature.

The template system in transclude has four things in it: ${} interpolation, an if attribute, an each attribute, and <slot>. else-if, else and key round out the first two. That is deliberate. Load data in <script server> instead. transclude.dev/docs/routing #WebDevelopment #WebStandards #HTML

I had a Model 30 as well. It was my first computer that had a hard-drive (20 MB!). Always bothered me that the model 25 and 30 had MCGA graphics and all of the other models has VGA. So few games supported MCGA compared to VGA back then. When they did though, the games looked terrific this like.

My web framework, transclude, makes building web components a bit simpler because the entire framework is HTML-first. While I bill it as a server-side framework, if you opt-in to Custom Elements in your app, it can also become a client-side framework. transclude.dev/docs/elements
