Dark mode. Do the websites & web apps made by your team support dark mode? If not, why not? What do you want to know most to help empower your team to support it?! What’s the blocker? What is confusing or hard about dark mode? #css #web #development #design

Do you make websites? What do you wish <select> listbox did? Or didn’t do? This is the HTML. Currently, it automatically creates a listbox with 4 options showing. <select id="foobar" multiple> If you want 6 items showing, you write <select id="foobar" multiple item="6">. What should it be?

Previous default UA styling for Customizable select on the left. Current default UA styling in Safari 27.0. Thoughts? We just really wanted to give web developers a better starting place. 30 years of struggling to style form controls is enough.
Default look & feel of two drop-down menus, with and without groups of options. On the left, the original design from the CSS Working Group, in Chrome. On the left, what Safari 27.0 shipped, which is working it's way through the Working Group now.

Icon-only options in a customizable <select> break three things: ❌️ users who don't recognize the icon have no help ❌️screen readers have nothing to announce ❌️browsers w/o support show an empty dropdown There's just 1 fix for all three cases: keep the text Learn more:

This group lab was really good. My takeaways: - they prioritize features based on use cases and the value it provides to users - web performance is an infinite game (never done) - the new <model> element is supported across Apple devices/browsers - spatial CSS is super exciting!
