Changing your phone provider = changing your atmosphere provider → keep your phone number = keep your identity (username) Changing your phone = changing what app you use* → keep your contacts & photos = keep your followers, following, posts, etc. You can change providers without changing phones.

Just today I was thinking of my fav fish meme (as one does 😅) and I realized that "organize" has roots in the word "organ", eg organize literally means "To furnish [a body] with organs", "to endow with capacity for the functions of life" en.wiktionary.org/wiki/organize

Glad you raised this. I shared the post since the overall message was still one of social-web solidarity, but I do think it’s incumbent on @malteengeler.de & colleagues to update their priors on atproto, which is far more mission-aligned with the Structural Integrity agenda than it gets credit for.

‘theories of change don’t necessarily need to be more coherent than any given poem’ Is that a position a person can take and still be considered an ‘honest leftie’? After years contemplating and discussing this inside and outside of academic circles, it still seems very impossible to me.

So if you have a rotation key & a backup you can move even if the original PDS is entirely offline. I just tested this when the Peedee es PDS went offline. It DOES require you to make that backup & key BEFORE the PDS is gone / offline or hostile but it works & PDS MOOVer made it no-code.

IIRC the vision is that you login to new PDS using OAuth, giving permission to manage account, and then the new PDS can pull everything over and complete the migration smoothly

At Eurosky, we believe verification should serve a simple function: provide a trust signal to users that an account is who they claim to be. It's not about follower numbers, 'public profile' or other vanity metrics.
