Michael Tracey published what he said was the ID of the "Jane Doe" in the Cornell case. Then he took it down, claiming he just wanted to make a point and didn't want to see harm to the person he named. What he hasn't admitted is that he mistook info on a sketchy site for official NY court records.
An archived copy of Michael Tracey's original Substack post includes a screenshot from "eCourt Records" and the commentary: "It's [name redacted]. Don't blame me -- the New York Court System just posted it. Seemingly inadvertently. Oh well."Screenshot of Michael Tracey's post on Substack titled "Note on Jane Doe." It reads: "After identifying Jane Doe earlier tonight, I have now removed the information I published. Why? Because the principle has been served: to underscore that permanently anonymizing litigants who make sensational, spectacular, reputation-destroying claims about others — so long as they can self-declare some form of victimization — cannot be countenanced.

It’s destructive, and an egregious abuse of the legal system by huckster plaintiff’s lawyers. This practice has to end. Lawyers who seek to monetize this sleazy tactic should have to think A LOT HARDER about the claims they’re willing to throw out into the public domain, using impressionable clients who may not even know what they’re getting themselves into.

So why have I now removed her information?

Because I don’t believe she’s the main “villain” here. I primarily blame the bottom-feeding, media-manipulating, sleazebag lawyers who’ve made a whole cash-grab industry out of this racket.

Thomas Giuffra in particular has a lot to answer for. He’s the central reason for the current debacle.

Given the intense nationwide and global interest in this case, I don’t want to bring any further negative attention to this woman. I don’t believe she ought to be punished or subjected to any retribution or humiliation. I believe a RATIONAL solution is necessary here. Not more character assassination — of her, the seven young men, or anyone else. Truly, that is my genuine view."

The last musical to win best picture before Chicago was *Oliver! (1968)* Took a long time to really bring them back! This actually started as a rant about Les Mis which was only a decade later 🤪 But it was really Cats that killed the movie musical again, at least for a bit.

Cats is a very good stage show that Tom Hooper butchered because he doesn't understand musicals or Cats, and yes I know Les Mis won a bunch of awards, but it did not deserve them.

We just watched Chicago, and it's bananas to me that we went from such a well adapted musical to Tom Hooper's Cats so quickly.

I ate 2 avocados this week and I'm very happy about that 😌 Thinking back to the millennial avocado on toast thing... I can buy 4 avocados at Pak'nSAVE right now for less than half the price of 1 weekday coffee that I buy in Pipitea.

The other day, I was walking around central Welly, and there was a young man in a nice outfit walking around with a handmade sign. It said something to the effect of, "Enthusiastic & looking for work," with his phone number in big digits at the bottom. 😔 Idk, it just felt bleak.

Also, given Meta's proclivity to harvest all of our data, I can't imagine being disabled and wanting one of these. Especially in places like the US where you can have your disability benefits taken away if someone helps you buy groceries. Their own privacy rights will be utterly unprotected by Meta.

Yeah I agree with this. These aren't accessibility devices, they are mass market products. Meta loves using disabled people as a clutch to prevent bans of unsavoury product features, but if they cared about disabled people, they would have worked w/ them to make a product designed for their needs.

...Brian Roche & Nicola Willis know this. They are willing to embed NZ government systems further with foreign tech companies so that they can fire public servants. Just for some arbitrary cap on numbers. And they do not care that this will come at great expense to the country when it fails.

Ok so basically, what I'm learning from Dirty Work is that any clearly bad faith campaign in NZ is more than likely straight from TU/Jordan Williams/National-adjacent fuckheads and we should be screaming DIRTY WORK from the rooftops every time they dare to sneeze.

Sure is a lot of unsavoury information about InternetNZ elected board member, Jonathan Ayling, in Dirty Work. Boy, I wish I knew how much money FSU, TU, and or any other group in the Jordan Williams show spent to get him and Brown elected.

Getting increasingly bewildered by the replies Bluesky decides to hide because low effort? Rude? Idk, but more and more perfectly reasonable replies to posts are getting hidden. It's so bad, every time I see the "hidden replies" section, I expand it because 100% of the time, they are fine.

And I get the same vibe from AI proponents; They simply don't understand art, and think it's beneath them. They don't understand the appeal, they come from a techbro mindset and think art is a solved equation and anything that isn't photorealistic or extremely high detail is failing at the goal.

It was directed at anyone; some folks don't know they can ask their library to order in books they don't have. You didn't say you bought one from Unity, though. You implied that people should be able to pirate it if they don't have a copy. Or at least that's how I read it; feel free to correct me.
