ala @cygaj.cc · 25/09/2026me too but if i had a bunch of labradors in my life after a time i would learn their faces in the exact same way i familiarize myself with human ones 000
ala @cygaj.cc · 25/09/2026i used to think my prosopagnosia is very mild; now i believe its "regular" but overcompensated by good visual memory. i've come to that conclusion at some point after seeing an interview with a face blind women who's severely affected: "ppl look like bunch of labradors to me" 100

ala @cygaj.cc · 24/09/2026holy hell snw getting my sincere attention for nearly 10 seconds!! i am not going to watch the show but i will play this on loop 040
ala @cygaj.cc · 24/09/2026correction: you *can* use these platforms to run dutch auctions. that's emergent gameplay tho 010
ala @cygaj.cc · 24/09/2026but i just… cant get over it!! it feels like "pov" on tiktok except im led to believe that everyone is on the joke with that one and only literally-minded ppl-too-old-for-tiktok like myself could fall for "pov". meanwhile there's no "auction" joke, just a plain ol' semantic shift 000
ala @cygaj.cc · 24/09/2026like i get it… when a person on vinted or olx talks about their "auctions" everyone understand what they mean (mainly bc there's no auctions on these platforms and they can only mean their buy-now listings); communication is achieved; "auction" shifts meaning n dictionaries will update in the future 210
ala @cygaj.cc · 24/09/2026do english speakers also call any online listing advertising an item for sale an "auction". or is it just polish ppl bc of local internet developments? i really dont want to be a linguistic prescriptivist and just grit my teeth but its one of this tiny things that im irrational about 110

ala @cygaj.cc · 24/09/2026everyone else in my family who speaks the other language either speaks polish natively (whether they learned the other language as an adult or started out bilingual) or don't speak polish at all. it was always grandma with one of the kind grandma accent (until i met the other lady) 010
ala @cygaj.cc · 24/09/2026my grandma has a strong foreign accent but for the greater part of my life i thought it was just "grandma voice" and it never ever occurred to me it was a specific accent—until i met another adult woman of the same native language and who spoke polish as a second one: a surprise reframing! 110
ala @cygaj.cc · 24/09/2026like tos especially is so different from any other show that comes decades later and if one loves tos and is sad there's only so much of it my personal rec is to try parick o'brian novels 000
ala @cygaj.cc · 24/09/2026god, ive seen some internet lists being like "watch TWOK first and see if you like that, thats the best star trek has to offer" ToT okay mate, that's a whole different piece of film; why do you assume everyone wants action-adventure out of star trek????? 100
