Why studying the humanities is important: Schmitt finds a piece of data that confirms his preexisting theory, and doesn’t do any further inquiry. Basic research discipline would have found that there was a possibility of a Hawks/Hawkeyes mixup and this all could’ve been avoided.

Let me give you the actual solution to this problem. Universities and colleges have to hire football players as union employees (AFL-CIO, same as the NFL), with no requirement to attend school. They get health and retirement benefits, and are limited to a five year employment contract.
