Having a fit of the vapours, the Daily Express has launched an ''Express Crusade' to save the triple lock pension. Never mind funding a National Care Service. Instead a rise based on inflation or 2.5%, whichever is higher, will still leave millions of pensioners better off.

Polanski is still stuck in student politics mode. The Government isn’t “going after pensioners”. Burnham just announced the best possible outcome for older people: a care system that doesn’t strip pensioners of everything they have. Oh yes, and also took State pension out of taxation.

An annual DBS check should be mandatory for every candidate standing for election in the UK - *including all standing to be MPs*. That way we would have known abour James McMurdock's criminal record when he stood for election but kept that murky secret to himself and Farage.
