Also, as I bet many haven't heard the speech, care costs are something a lot of us know about, and are worried about. It's basically "there is a chance all your savings evaporate to pay for care, unless you are mega-wealthy". So addressing that is popular in the real world.

The rush to speculate that asylum seekers are responsible for every crime in the news is a sort of opportunistic informational terrorism. Until it’s disproved it stokes fear and hatred. When it is disproved there are no adverse consequences and they know that they only have to be lucky once.

90 years ago today, 30,000 people gathered on Holbeck Moor in Leeds to stop British fascist leader Oswald Mosley and his Blackshirts holding a rally. My grandad was there to help stop the fascists. I was so proud to speak at the unveiling of the plaque commemorating that historic day.
