Kurt Vonnegut man

Kurt Vonnegut tells his wife he's going out to buy an envelope:
"Oh, she says, well, you're not a poor man.
You know, why don't you go online and buy a hundred envelopes and put them in the closet?
And so I pretend not to hear her. And go out to get an envelope because I'm going to have a hell of a good time in the process of buying one envelope.
I meet a lot of people. And see some great looking babies. And a fire engine goes by.
And I give them the thumbs up. And I'll ask a woman what kind of dog that is. And, and I don't know. The moral of the story is — we're here on Earth to fart around
And, of course, the computers will do us out of that. And what the computer people don't realize, or they don't care, is we're dancing animals. You know, we love to move around.
And it's like we're not supposed to dance at all anymore."

Trying out the updated beta of @flashes.blue, with option to enable a PORTFOLIO feature and select images to include. Impressed! Lots of potential for freelance artists.

Figuring out Flashes - add it to this account, or is a separate bsky account just for Flashes/photography a better way to go?

The whole statement from Halifax Nova Scotia about tariffs @doktorzoom.bsky.social

It's remarkable to find ourselves at odds with our best friend and neighbour.
It will take thoughtfulness and time but we will get through this. There are things within our control that we must act on. We must ramp up our focus on finding new markets here at home with programs like Nova Scotia Loyal, focus on developing our own resources, eliminate inter-provincial trade barriers and, finally, of course, by looking for international diversification.
We will do these things and no matter what, I will do everything I can to protect the interests of hard-working Nova Scotians and their families.
Nova Scotians are my concern.
We are anxious to understand the federal government's plans for programs to support Nova Scotians, and we will also do what we can but it is too early to determine exactly what is necessary.
In response to U.S. tariffs, the following are the steps we will take.
First, Nova Scotia will limit access to provincial procurement for American businesses. We will look for opportunities to cancel existing contracts and will maintain the option to reject bids outright because of President Trump's unlawful tariffs.
Second, the cost of tolls at the Cobequid Pass will double for commercial vehicles from the United States, effective February 3, 2025.
Finally, we will direct the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation to remove all alcohol from the United States from their shelves effective February 4, 2025.

So #PhotographersUnited … I and some local #photography friends are looking at stepping back from Meta and trying to figure out where to go. So far, I’ve looked at Pixelfed, Cara and VERO. I like VERO but it may be the least active. Anyone have any other ideas? @conradthedesigner.bsky.social
