engagement-driven monetisation and gamification systems like gacha are everywhere in games. they have had real material negative impacts in genres i enjoy. they are a massive chunk of the market now. yes, i cant "undo" it. but i have been able to avoid them easily by just playing other games

A friend showed me this and as someone who has a bunch of ROMsets yeah this can be a problem of having too much and not knowing what to do, but also this can be easily countered if you know how to handle a backlog of games. Like literally either spin a wheel to pick out your game or something
