New: Health Minister Josie Osborne nixes overdose prevention site planned for 900 Helmcken St. in downtown Vancouver, citing concerns raised. Says province and Vancouver Coastal Health will "fully engage with stakeholders and community ahead of any new site opening."
“Vancouver continues to experience the highest rates of unregulated drug deaths in B.C. During this public health emergency, it is critical that people at risk of overdose have access to timely supports and services that save lives and help prevent serious harms, including brain injury.

“Vancouver Coastal Health is working to establish overdose-prevention services in Vancouver’s downtown core and recognizes the importance of ensuring these services support both vulnerable people in need of care and the businesses, residents and workers in surrounding neighbourhoods.

“Since intentions were announced to open a new overdose-prevention site on 900 Helmcken St., I, along with my colleague, Terry Yung, Minister of State for Community Safety and Integrated Services, and MLA for Vancouver-Yaletown, have heard concerns from the city, local businesses and community partners. We, along with the Ministry of Health and Vancouver Coastal Health, are committed to taking steps to fully engage with stakeholders and community ahead of any new site opening. Vancouver Coastal Health will not proceed with the overdose-prevention site at 900 Helmcken St. at this time, and there is currently no planned date for opening.

“The Province is committed to working collaboratively with the City of Vancouver, local businesses and community partners to ensure people can access life-saving services, while addressing concerns raised by the community and supporting safe, healthy neighbourhoods for everyone. The mobile overdose-prevention site will continue to operate to provide a limited number of services in the area.”

The BC Cons are fighting over a leadership debate & Elliott finally responded. People keep calling Elliott a "liberal" despite campaigning to the OneBC crowd & doing the BC Cons & CPC trick of avoiding debate lmao ⬇️
There’s a lot of chatter about debate participation. A few things:

1. I’m excited to take part in any & all debates sanctioned by the Conservative Party of BC including the two that are currently scheduled for the end of April.

2. The Juno debate is unsanctioned. Its timing before the membership cut-off date is taking time away from growing the party through membership sign-ups. And it involves candidate(s) who may not even be on the final ballot (major payments are due after the debate date).

3. When we originally agreed to participate, it was due to a misleading communication by a Juno representative (sent on March 12) that *all* other candidates had been confirmed to participate. To be clear: a message was sent to me, directly, saying that “everyone else is confirmed.”

This was untrue.

4. When it emerged that one main candidate had, in fact, *not* agreed to participate, we encouraged Juno to move the debate until after the membership cut-off so as not to be at a disadvantage (taking time to prepare for the debate while a competitor was signing up members).

5. The same Juno representative told us they would consider this. When they came back and said they wouldn’t reschedule, we declined to participate for all of the above reasons - but reiterated that I am (and remain!) happy to participate at a later date.

For now, I’m going to keep doing what I’ve been doing.

Meeting British Columbians all over this province. Hearing their concerns & taking their questions. Getting them excited about change & signing them up. Raising funds. Participating in the two scheduled, sanctioned debates. And - most of all - building a party and a movement that will defeat the NDP.

Why the fuck are cops endorsing legislation?
Lawful Access legislation a “pragmatic and sensible approach”: Chief Rai
Vancouver – Calling it a pragmatic and sensible approach that balances police powers and privacy rights, Chief Constable Steve Rai today endorsed proposed federal legislation that will improve access to information about offenders who use smartphones and the internet to commit crimes.
“The growth of modern smartphones and telecommunications networks has brought rapid and dramatic change to the world around us. While many of these changes have made our lives easier, they have also created new opportunities for criminals who use telecommunications to plan, execute, and finance crimes that threaten public safety,” says Chief Rai, who hosted a roundtable discussion Friday that included local police leaders, along with federal and provincial legislators.
“Unfortunately, existing laws have not kept pace with these technological changes. As a result, the work of identifying offenders, solving crimes, and keeping our communities safe has become more difficult. While Bill C-22 is just one step, I believe it is a step in the right direction – one that balances the operational needs of police with the privacy rights of citizens.
Chief Rai’s comments came following the introduction of Bill C-22 – federal legislation that would help streamline the legal process for police to identify people who use telecommunications devices and the internet to commit crime.
“The tools proposed in Bill C-22 would make it easier for police officers to identify which telecommunications service provider an offender may be using to commit crimes. This would allow investigators to move more quickly to serve production orders and secure critical evidence,” added Chief Rai.
“While this proposed legislation represents a significant step forward, it also ensures that any private information gathered during a criminal investigation is obtained lawfully and in full compliance with the Charter of Rights and Freedoms

In a series of chats from 2022, Ben Baker and Jeff Weinhold, two regional directors of ticketing for Live Nation amphitheaters, boasted about their ability to raise so-called "ancillary fees" - like parking, lawn chair rentals and VIP access - and still get concertgoers to pay for them. In one exchange, Weinhold gloated about raising VIP parking costs at a Virginia concert venue to $250.
"These people are so stupid. I almost feel bad taking advantage of them," Baker wrote, adding later, "I gouge them on ancil prices."

Chiefs from four First Nations communities are urging the public to please approach Aaron Gunn with no caution whatsoever. He is completely harmless, though momentarily unsettled by the alarming possibility that someone might acknowledge the land before a meeting.
Yesterday on social media, the MP appeared to crash out and demand to speak to the manager of land acknowledgements, a position that observers confirm does not exist.
Chiefs whose territories make up the riding had two words for the MP - Chillax, Bud.
Land acknowledgements have never seized private property, cancelled a mortgage, repossessed a pickup truck, or altered a single title deed anywhere in Canada.
They are simply people recognizing the history of the place where they are standing.
No one is going anywhere. Canada will survive the brief moment of honesty.
Until then, Chiefs across the region continue to reassure the public that land acknowledgements have not, to date, resulted in any land back.

The chart shows a significant price peak in 2022 reaching over $120, followed by a general downward trend with various fluctuations, eventually hitting a low near $55 in late 2025 before a sharp vertical spike to the current price of 90.900. This recent surge represents an increase of +23.880 (+35.63%), highlighted in green text above the blue line graph.
