Prof Aigbirhio is a leading specialist in neuro-imaging. He develops radio pharmaceuticals to ‘light up’ precise parts of the brain in PET MRI scans. "In MS, which can cause vision loss, we can use these for measurements of the myelin on the nerve cells.” #vision #neuroscience

PhD student Davi Vontobel was awarded the 2026 Alzheimer’s Society Frontotemporal Dementia UK Clinical Science Prize. The study found which brain cells drive the signal in scans looking at brain inflammation in FTD: it's immune cells, microglia. This was captured by looking at CD68 protein.
