I just discovered the #BloomScrolling tag and I’m delighted. Here’s my first entry, first successful attempt at growing a dahlia. No idea which one and no idea what happened to the others that went in.
A large dahlia flower. Lemon yellow petals heavily striped with red surround an inner ring of spiky lemon yellow petals that surround a golden yellow centre. A similar smaller bloom is in the background. Behind them, mid-green foliage.

Yup. Writing is thinking. So if you write a shitty first draft, you did some thinking and are on your way! If you got “AI” to write the draft, you haven’t thought AND now you’re trying to fix up what some non-thinking robot “thought.” You just put yourself 30 yards behind the starting line.

Sadly, I’ve seen similar things happen at least once in other coffee shops: Bridgehead, Oat Couture, even the fab Jackson Café. Some time before closing, they may stop using real dishes, or clean up/shut down the grill or another piece of equipment. Disappointing. My most frustrating: Oat Couture!

If you've used my drawn statement on Ai for a class or other Ed context – I'd appreciate learning a bit about that (here or directly), I'd like to document a bit of where it's ended up. And if it's new to you, feel free to make use of it, all online here! Tnx! spinweaveandcut.com/fall-2025-sy...
my statement on Ai from the mini-comic I'm making as syllabus for a new class I'm teaching this fall. It's simple, but I pretty much said all I have to say on it - it robs you of decisions and struggle - and the joy of being surprised. It robs you of learning...

a snippet of a mini-comic, at top - straight line stretches from point A to B. Immediately below, same dot at A, then becomes a curving, meandering line that winds through the page and ends at a point with rays and a question mark emanating from it. Text reads: "Nothing can do this for you - for that robs you of experience and conflates answers with learning. Rather, it's all the decisions you make along the way, the mistakes, struggles, and surprises! These pathways you create - this is learning.
