Look, if Canada is going to be Europe we need to immediately remove all cars from Granville Island and run several different U-Bahn lines to it.

I had this idea from reading the elizabeth holmes mouse post and then I couldn't do anything else until i painted the idea to completion
It is a cartoon mouse, like Jerry from Tom and Jerry, shaped like a wedge of cheese presumably because it has eaten a wedge of cheese. The mouse has Elizabeth Holmes' face. The mouse is saying "Why would I deceive you? There's no reason for me to do that."Nathan Fielder, looking into a fridge where the mouse has eaten a cheese, says skeptically "Okay. Alright."

Having a broken leg in summer sucks because you can't go out hiking or bike to the farmer's market. I am desperate for a peak summer tomato for a BLT but the only crutch-able grocery store doesn't have the good shit. Beats breaking your leg in winter when you already have seasonal depression.

A wildfire has broken out in the Belcarra area of Metro Vancouver— anyone have any footage. Hopefully local crews are able to get on the #BCwildfire quickly! A reminder that we’re not immune to fire even here on the inner south coast! #BCStorm #BCStormWatch #BCWX

I would kill or die for Larry
A small operation in Oregon that hunts truffles with a trained dog has added an unpaid trainee. A cat named Larry accompanies the handler and the truffle dog into the woods every outing, works a patch of ground a little apart from them, and digs with tremendous confidence in places where there is nothing.
The handler says Larry has never found a truffle and shows no sign of understanding the assignment. He does not use scent the way the dog does and he does not respond when the dog makes a find.
He simply digs his own holes nearby and then inspects them. "He thinks he's on the team," the handler said. "He is emphatically not on the team."

I re-made the SemiAnalysis subscription margin table, which assumed 75% gross margins, with the actual margins presented here that were about 42%. The answer is pretty rough, with just under 5% average utilization being the break-even point for ChatGPT
Original subscription margin table showing subscription margin for Claude and ChatGPT based on how much the average user utilizes the subscription. Shitty Google Sheets version which shows the same numbers, albeit without the break-even points.Same doc showing 42% gross margins. At that rate no ChatGPT subscriptions make a profit at 5% average utilization.

One week in, the World Cup in Vancouver is a hit. But can we take the energy and further evidence that the city loves car-free public spaces, and turn that into a permanent legacy on Granville Street? Here's my short video exploring the idea.

The main reason 10th Ave is having so many problems during the Broadway detour is that this is what it looks like at the best of times. It's just a normal car road with no actual protected bike space and the bare minimum of traffic calming, most of which takes the form of ignorable signs.
10th Ave east of Main St, picture taken last fall. Two lanes of parking and a car driving take up the entire road.
