It is showing the location, but they didn’t do a great job of making it obvious where the stop is when there are multiple routes stopping at the same stop. It’s more clear when only 1 or 2 routes share the stop.

This is an excellent take on the increase in senior drivers and the consequences they face and we face from our car-dependence. I had to go through this with my parents. My late father refused to give up his keys long past when he should've. My mom has done so, but is now severely isolated.

Is it time to end the Heathrow Express? Ending the pricey rail line that connects Paddington and the airport would open track space for Elizabeth Line trains that carry travelers into and through central London on only a slightly longer journeys.

I got rid of my car ~20 years ago, shifting to a 1 car household with my girlfriend, now wife. If we had continued w/2 cars, we couldn’t have afforded to buy our current home or rent our last one. And there’s no way we could have afforded childcare. Moving to 1 car absolutely changed our lives.

California High-Speed Rail is middle of the road in terms of costs internationally. High-speed rail isn't cheap, but it's worth it for the lower carbon emissions and pleasant, convenient connections. CA needs to stay the course and maintain its $1B/year commitment to fund HSR.

If abbott just orders all non-standard ones be removed state-wide… isn’t it even more damning proof about how Whitmire thinks about specific communities, since he seems to think the one in Montrose is the only one that needs removed?

1 thing to point out about this: Abbot is not the reason the 🌈 disappeared. Whitmire’s METRO board decided to not replace them when they repaved the street. Public pressure made them put them back. Repubs got mad and got the state to get involved. Whitmire is why all 🌈 crosswalks are gone in TX.

🚨 ACTION ALERT🚨 Last week, USDOT removed bike lanes, road diets, & speed management from its Proven Safety Countermeasures website. Join us in calling on Congress to demand a briefing on why the administration is erasing protections for vulnerable road users: action.bikeleague.org/page/100481/...
TELL CONGRESS: USDOT should put safety first! bikeleague.org/action-center🚨 Last week, the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) removed bike lanes, road diets, and speed management from their Proven Safety Countermeasures website.
Proven safety countermeasures are lighthouses to guide officials towards safer roadway designs. They rest on a mountain of evidence. They are prominent and illuminating, suggesting the most effective infrastructure for solving our nation’s traffic death crisis.

By taking down these strategies, the Federal Highway Administration is effectively telling states and local governments that they no longer encourage states and local governments to invest in safety!
USDOT needs to explain why it is putting politics ahead of safety.
On Friday, Rep. Rick Larsen (D-WA), ranking Democrat on the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee released a statement asking for a briefing from the USDOT about why these safety measures are no longer encouraged, adding that “It’s not political to say bike lanes and speed cameras improve safety; it’s a statement of fact.”

We need your help in amplifying Rep. Larsen’s message. Please ask your member of Congress to join Rep. Larsen in asking for a briefing. We deserve an explanation on why the administration is erasing protections for vulnerable road users.
Take action now: bikeleague.org/action-center

Oh no, we’re doing the daylight saving time thing again? Have you people learned nothing from me? There is no universal solution but to overthrow the clock and live by the sun.
A map of the USA showing the most satisfactory plan to have reasonable sunrise and sunset times: abolish daylight saving time, use it permanently, or keep the current twice yearly time change. On the western side of time zones it’s best to abolish DST; on the eastern side it’s better to have permanent DST.

This really goes to show we really need to think about our time zones in more detail than simply with/without daylight saving time. In reality, we may want to consider moving our time zones all together. For ex: move much of the northeast to Atlantic standard time outoftime.github.io/time-zones

How did the US add housing from 2000 to 2020? In the New York region, ~1/2 of homes were added in neighborhoods that already had >5000 units/sq mi: high-density areas. But in regions like Dallas & Phoenix, almost all units were added through sprawl. An investigation: www.urban.org/research/pub...
