As ever, weighing up posting this. Cycling home the other night a teenage boy asking me if I “wanted to be kicked off my fucking bike”. The depressing thing? Didn’t even really bat an eyelid: experiences like this aren’t uncommon. Disturbing how close to the surface violence can sit for some.

We loved the overnight ferries to and from France - they’ve really snazzed them up since the 90s! Cue much excitement from the five year old that we had a cabin (he nearly lost his mind when he realised there were bunk beds and a ladder…)

An hour or so between trains in Basel meant I could have a quick look at the underground bike parking and grab some bits for a train picnic. Just amazing seeing so many bikes and people cycling. Cute book exchange and quiet seating area/charging spots in the station too.

First change from Euston to St Pancras gave me the chance to check out some of the new protected lanes, and a well timed cement mixer perfectly demonstrates why they’re needed. I used to cycle this route back when there was nothing and WHAT a difference: good job, London.

My bike is a massive part of my life: it helps with school and nursery drop-offs, gets me to work quickly, gives me exercise when I don’t have much time, headspace when I need it, and it helps me to be a better mum. We need more infrastructure & improved safety so everyone can benefit #WorldBikeDay
