One would think if they were going to block off our street with a bunch of heavy equipment so we and our neighbors can’t get our cars out, they would have put up some signs or otherwise warned us in advance. One would be wrong.

Four trucks, a couple trees, and a house on the left. The leftmost truck has a long arm holdup a big metal power pole with some hardware on top but nor connected to any wires Next to it is a cherrypicker with a worker near an old wooden power pole with power lines still connected to it. the trucks are completely blocking off the entire road .

Dear beautiful women,
I've started this letter like ten times and deleted it every time because every time I start I cry. So I'm just going to write it.
Your flag matters to me. It matters so much that it's flying at a lesbian household where anyone walking by can see it.
I'm a trans girl so I'm not sure you can relate but I'll try. Most days I'm doing math in my head like which hallway is safer, who I can sit near at lunch whether it's worth saying something or just letting it go. I'm so tired. I don't think people who don't have to do it know how tired it makes you.
I walk past your house almost daily. The first time I saw the flag I slowed down without meaning to. It was just hanging there like it was no big deal but to me it was everything. It felt like the people inside would see me as who I actually am and I wouldn't have to explain or prove anything. My shoulders dropped for the first time all day and I almost cried right there in front of your home.
I know that living here isn't easy for gay people like you where not everyone is kind about it so putting that flag up means risking stares, comments or worse. You didn't have to do it. It would have been so much easier to stay quiet. You did it anyway, and that is the bravest thing I've seen anyone do. Every day it stays up it tells people like me that someone is willing to be brave so we don't have to be alone.
Now I look for it. Some days it's the one thing that makes me feel like I'm not imagining that I deserve to be here. When so much of the world feels like it's deciding whether there's room for me your flag says there is. Please keep it up. You might not know it but it's helping me get through the day.
Thank you for your courage, and for leaving the porch light on for the rest of us.

Bookstores are great but some are terrible at marketing. I just got an email from a bookstore promoting their "brand new" location in my city and inviting me to come to their Labor Day book sale, but I looked through the email twice and nowhere does it mention the address of their store. Sigh.

When I started this I had no idea this study would go on so long, but I’m glad to be able to continue to do my part to contributing to heart health research by being a research subject. It’s good to know this kind of research is still being funded. I didn’t need them calling me middle aged, though.
