Reuters is burying the lede here. Myanmar hired Roger Stone as a lobbyist in DC roughly the same time the Trump administration placed a de facto moratorium on accepting Myanmar refugees, after the country ranked top five in refugees heading to the United States for ten straight years.
Myanmar's government, installed after elections criticized by rights groups as a sham, has hired lobbyists to press its case in Washington.

In April, Roger Stone, a longtime Trump adviser, began consulting for DCI Group on behalf of Myanmar's Ministry of Information, according to Foreign Agents Registration Act filings. Stone was convicted in 2019 of obstructing a congressional investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. Trump later pardoned him.

A newsletter distributed by DCI warned in June that Washington risked being shut out of access to critical minerals if it did not engage with Myanmar.

Hello Bone Colleagues,
I have invented a new type of ankle and I'm very excited to show it to you. Early raccoon trials suggest a 60% increase in scurrying speed and dramatic increases in fine motor banditry. I know we are not supposed to create super raccoons, but I think you'll change your mind and professional ethics when you see how cute they are. I believe we are on the cusp of a new era in advanced human scurrying because if medical science has taught me anything, it's that improvements in raccoons correspond 1:1 to improvements in humans.

If Dems flip executive offices in GOP states, expect lame duck legislatures to strip what powers they can before Dems take over. They did it in NC, MI, WI, and KY last decade. Iowa’s GOP 𝘢𝘭𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺 did it in 2026, expecting a loss for governor. But in Texas, Dems could block it by denying a 2/3 quorum

Notably, the most effective ideas were some of the most expensive. Some changes — like paying more for certain jobs — may also need to be negotiated with local teachers’ unions, a potential sticking point.
