This is Nazi rhetoric, full stop. It's not only a call to instigate a race war in the United States, but it's reminiscent of historic European justifications used to incite pogroms against Jews. People who say things like this are incredibly dangerous, as there is nothing they won't eventually do.

This is something political scientists, psychologists, and sociologists have been studying for 70 years, and that's what they've got. Crucially, both models require large numbers of people to agree with each other, and present that agreement to the target of the persuasion.

The first model is elite driven - when a critical mass of famous people who are aligned with your party make similar public statements contrary to your thinking, motivated reasoning might cause you to adapt your thinking to align with them.

Reminder again that the President of the United States has no idea what a trade deficit is — a concept taught in high school econ. He thinks that if the US buys $500 of goods and services from Canada, and Canada buys $400 of goods and services from the US, we have “lost” $100.

Again, 5 years ago, none of these policies existed. 15 states require the forced outing of trans students 16 states ban medicaid coverage of gender affirming care 14 states have "Don't say trans" laws banning discussion of trans people's identities. 29 states have banned participation in sports.

Fascism in the USA is not inevitable. Why? 'Cos it's already here. The ship has sailed. The genie can't be put back in the bottle. Pandora's box cannot be un-opened. Even if America somehow returned to normal (it can't/won't), China and others wouldn't. We live in a new world now, and we must adapt.

One thing I wish people would realize is just how central JK Rowling is to the entire anti-trans ecosystem. Looking at a network node analysis of the top 200 anti-trans X accounts, she is the most central figure spanning both sides of the Atlantic from Republicans to Labour.
A network graph visualization on a dark background showing connections between various accounts. The central, highly connected node is labeled "J.K. Rowling," with lines radiating out to many other nodes color-coded by region (UK, US, etc.). A detail panel on the right displays stats for her account, including her role as "Author & commentator," an in-degree of 153, an out-degree of 84, and 14 million followers.A scatter plot graph on a dark background comparing accounts based on "followers (log)" on the x-axis and "in-degree" on the y-axis. The data points are color-coded by region. J.K. Rowling is highlighted as a major outlier in the top right corner, possessing the highest number of followers and the highest in-degree. Other labeled points lower on the graph include various politicians, individuals, and campaign organizations.

"don't make enough money" is a fig leaf All those degree programs--social work, art, etc.--have disproportionately female student bodies. This is designed to make it harder for women to attend college--college education being a key factor in women's autonomy from men & left-leaning voting pattern.
