Thanks Trump.
On current forecasts there is a very high chance that households are going to experience a much tougher winter energy bill in Q1 2027 than any they saw in the previous crisis. The analysis we've had so far has been forgetting the energy bill support scheme (EBSS) in place in Q1 2023, and getting confused by Ofgem's changes to its typical domestic consumption values (TDCVs). My calculations below iron out these consistencies and show price and consumption weighted quarterly bills after govt support. Government must implement universal support and additional targeted top-ups now.

If you're in my GP's office any time soon, prepare yourself for what many are calling the greatest mnemonic of all time. Come for E and P, but sit down and clap for I.
A screen in my GP's office advertising a mnemonic of signs to spot SEPSIS.

S slurred speech of confusion
E extreme shivering or muscle pain
P passing no urine all day
S severe breathlessness
I ot feels like you are going to die
S skin mottled or discoloured

This is your semi-regular reminder that pensioner poverty: a) is real b) is significantly less prevalent than working-age poverty and half the rate of child poverty, and c) is such that a pensioner is statistically more likely to live in a household worth over £1 million than to live in poverty

The FCDO also pays about £4.2m to access a wide range of papers including NYT, WSJ. Newsflash - it costs money for large organisations to access media. And they probably should pay for it, esp since individuals don't anymore www.find-tender.service.gov.uk/Notice/02730...
