I don’t know how many people are evil I said. Not most. But enough of them that the balance doesn’t make a difference. They are worse than we are not. www.welcometohellworld.com/the-day-the-...
I asked her something like is it devastating for you how many awful people there are in the world or instead is it heartening how many good people there are in spite of that and she said she needed to think about that one for a while.

I wake up every day and think no one is going to stop this she said after some silence. No one? And then resign myself to that fact and start the whole process all over again.

I am not naive she said. I did not just learn about how the world works today. Over the past year. It's just that my stubborn belief in the goodness of people has been so hard to finally and utterly kill off. And it repairs itself like a slowly mending heart.

I don’t know how many people are evil I said. Not most. But enough of them that the balance doesn’t make a difference. They are worse than we are not.

I am not super optimistic that the Dem gerontocracy will learn the right lessons from Mamdani’s win but here’s my analysis anyway: newrepublic.com/article/1972...

Mamdani Did All the Things the Establishment Hates. He Won Anyway.
There’s a growing appetite for something new and innovative growing among the electorate—and an opportunity for Democrats to grow that electorate, as well.

Highlights from yesterday’s #nokings rally and parade in the sanctuary city of Kingston, NY. UC Sheriff had an estimate of ~5000 people. No violence but some very spicy signage against ICE while supporting immigrants and Gaza - no evidence that these are fringe, unpopular opinions.

ESPN doesn't mention this because they are a huge part of the problem here, but this is 100% downstream of MLB's (and all the other major sports') full-throated embrace of gambling. It's a cancer that's already ruining lives and it's only going to get worse.

One amazing consequence of Andor exposing the fascist horrors of the Empire is that it adds like 1000x more hype and satisfaction to each Imperial KIA in any other shows or films. Destroying the Death Star? Suddenly way more satisfying now, even if I’ve seen it a million times.

The friction between upstate vs NYC re: water issues always seems to get this extremely unproductive media framing - NYC DEP creating turbidity in upstate creeks from water releases, Upstate counties over salting roads, etc. Almost as if they’re trying to sow political division!
